My lifelong dreams have been to have a baby, meet the singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb, and to write a book. This year, I’ve fulfilled the first two dreams.

In February, I got the awesome opportunity to watch Lisa Loeb perform, for the first time, and in the front row! She was so close, she even commented on the sandwich I was eating! Afterwards, she autographed my Hello Kitty electric guitar and I got to hang out with her again the next day. I had a really tough time in January so this once-in-a-lifetime experience made my year!

In April, I gave birth to a beautiful, sweet baby girl. I’ve waited a long time for her and feel very blessed. I would love to continue to stay home with her so I’m determined to find a way to earn extra income. Which leads me to my next dream and goal.

I have always, always wanted to write a book. Now with so many online tools available, it’s so easy to self-publish these days. To keep it simple, I’m working on an e-book.

So many people are doing it. And I have so much great info to share in more detail. I’m just wondering if people would buy it.

Flat screen TV’s, that were once a luxury are becoming more affordable through technology and production. Flat screens that once were bulky, overpriced, and poor quality have been weeded out. Depending on the size, quality, and your ability to shop around, you can find a great deal! The first thing that you have to figure out is, what you are looking for. This includes size, pixels, resolution, and design. Once you have your preferences spelled out, it is time to start shopping.

So where do you look? One of the first places you might want to look is, Ebay or Craigslist. Preferably Ebay. Ebay, unlike craigslist, has a more secure payment method through PayPal, so if you are unsatisfied, returning an item is an option. Although some people may let you return your item off Craigslist, it always depends on the person. They’re really are not any rules, Craigslist is sort of the “Wild Wild West” of internet buying. One thing is for sure, you can find some great deals buying on Ebay or Craigslist. Usually, this is because the people selling really just want some money, and for the most part, do not have the best sales experience. So, if you are like I am, you will try to negotiate the price down to what you ultimately want to pay for it, which is why Craigslist or Ebay is so great.

There are countless of other internet options you may go through. Sites like Amazon, or Overstock usually have some great deals, and show you the percentage you are saving. Another great thing about sites like these, is that they usually have free shipping. This might not seem like much, but anything free is an extra dollar saved, and an added bonus. One problem you might run into when dealing with sites like these are returns, and purchasing warranties. And if you are going to make an investment with a technology item, you are going to want some form of security. So, if you are not going to get the deal of a lifetime, and you are not exactly sure what you are getting in the mail, or the durability of it, this may not be the best route.

Luckily there is an alternative route that offers a little more security. One of the safest things to do when buying a new television set is to purchase a warranty. On top of that, you would like to see the design and picture quality up close, and not rely on word of mouth. Best Buy offers some of the best warranties you can purchase. Although, they do not have the most wallet friendly prices. There is however, a loophole. Best Buy, has a great feature for items that have been returned. They term these returned items, “open items” and can sell for discounts up to 40%. The best part is that you can still buy those secure warranties that can give you peace of mind when making such a big purchase. Sure the open items may not be the exact model you want, but it will definitely be the price that you want to pay.

When finding the perfect Television at the perfect price, you have some options. The first step is finding a TV you want by check out some different HDTV’s or some Vizio reviews. When you have picked out the TV you like, set a price you are willing to pay, then shop around. Shopping around can be the most fun part, and is always the most important part.

I was away last week because I gave birth to my first child.

The whole birth experience was quite an ordeal, going in and out of the hospital, getting admitted to the hospital to be induced, under stressful circumstances, and then getting discharged 12 hours later, without giving birth, by someone who wasn’t my doctor.

I also have battle scars. I was poked at least 10 times to get an IV started and to draw blood. A lot of the nurses would needle me but miss the vein. I even had an anesthesiologist miss a vein and give me a giant bruise on my arm.

In the end, I ended up giving birth to a healthy baby, with my doctor in charge (which I’m happy about) and having a good experience.

As a new parent, I plan on writing on more family-related topics. My budget has changed as well as my entire focus on life. But I’m enjoying every minute of it.

As some of you know, I am pregnant with my first child. The baby is due next month. Today, I was put on bed rest. That means I’m supposed to be resting in bed all day, except when I have to eat, shower, etc. I may not be able to write as much for now. =(

Sometimes life gives you lemons, really sour lemons. And you can either choose to rise above it or let it drag you down.

It can be a job that you hate going to everyday because you have the boss from hell. It could be that you are overwhelmed by a mountain of debt and can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or you have people in your life who bring you down.

Not too long ago, we had over $10,000 of debt, including a loan that had 59% interest! That was $250/mo in interest alone. So ridiculous!

At that time, I didn’t think we would ever get rid of it. I was laid off from my job, we were living on one income, and I wasn’t receiving unemployment yet. Money was really tight.

Of course, the first thing I thought of was to borrow money. But I didn’t. Borrowing money to pay off debt never really works. You can end up in even deeper debt or in unhappy circumstances with friends/family you borrowed the money from.

But I started to change the way I thought. Instead of thinking “I can’t”, I changed it to “I can.”  After a few months, I received my unemployment checks all at once. So I ended up with huge lump sums, which I used to pay off the stupid loan with 59% interest. I then sold some video equipment to pay off more debt and start an emergency fund. And I found another job soon after.

Whatever it is that you’re going through, you aren’t the only one who goes through these kinds of problems. Other people have gone through the same things and have risen above it. How? Through positive thinking.

This might sound crazy, to think positively when you are in a hole. But in order to get out, you have to let go of the negativity, so you can free yourself to think of solutions. Here’s how:

1. Mind your own business. Don’t let other people’s problems or negativity affect you. Who cares what someone else is doing? It’s none of your business! You have block out those things. Focus on yourself and what you really need to do, to be healthy in mind, body, soul.

2. Take care of yourself. No one can change your circumstances but you. If you hate your situation, change it. But don’t complain about it and expect a miracle to happen. Things can always change. If that means finding a new job so that you’ll be happier, then do it. If it means, dropping negative people in your life, then do that too. No one can really take care of you better than yourself.

3. Give yourself time and space to think positively. Think of what you really want to happen in your life and what will make you happy. The sky’s the limit. What’s your dream job? What’s your dream salary? How would it feel like to be free from debt?
