It’s almost time for back to school already and I will have to start packing lunches and preparing after school healthy snacks for my kindergartner.
And making sure that my daughter gets all of the calcium and vitamins she needs is important. That’s why I’m glad she can tolerate real milk now via a2 Milk®.
I want her to have nutritious snacks after school and that will include an almond butter or tuna fish sandwich, fruit, and a2 Milk®.
I’m very health conscious and want my child to have healthy food and snacks. We don’t eat a lot of candy and junk food at home. Most of our food is prepared from scratch using whole ingredients.
After School Healthy Snack Ideas:
- Raw cashews
- Homemade muffins
- Buttered toast
- Hard boiled eggs
- Almond butter sandwich
- Cheese and crackers
- Dried fruit rollups
- Homemade Larabars
And my daughter, at 5 years old, has developed a palate for fresh, good tasting food. She will be honest and let me know when something doesn’t have enough flavor, usually restaurant food or when something doesn’t taste right.
She loves the pizza that I make from scratch. And if I buy pizza from a restaurant, she will only eat 1 slice!
So when it comes to milk, she isn’t fond of store bought almond milk. She hates the taste because it is so watered down and flavored with additives that it isn’t real anymore.
Homemade almond milk, on the other hand, tastes so much better and my daughter will drink that. But almond milk doesn’t have the calcium that she needs as a growing toddler.
So her go-to milks now are goat milk and a2 Milk®. And I’m comfortable giving her a2 Milk® because she tolerates it well and maybe you will too!
It seems like a2 Milk® is catching on. The last time I asked my hubby to grab a2 Milk® at the grocery store, he said that they sold out of the whole milk a2 Milk®!
a2 Milk® is so much better than milk alternatives like soy, almond, and rice milks. a2 Milk®contains 6 times more calcium than soy milk, 8 times more protein of almond milk, and 6 times more potassium than rice milk.
All these milk alternatives are highly processed as well and most contain additives that I don’t want my child to have like carrageenan, which irritates the gut.
A new clinical trial has shown that the A1 protein found in cow’s milk may bring on symptoms of lactose intolerance. However, all participants in this study were able to tolerate a2 Milk® even though it contains lactose. a2 Milk® is naturally free of A1 protein.
The a2 Milk® Company™ has partnered with dairy farmers in upstate New York and the Midwest to expand the a2 herd to make a2 Milk® available to us in the U.S.
And I know those who experience tummy troubles when consuming dairy would appreciate a2 Milk® and be able to drink cow’s milk again without suffering afterwards. Drinks like hot chocolate and cafe lattes do not taste the same with milk alternatives.
