Just like Instant Pot Broccoli, cooking green beans in the Instant Pot is just as simple! And I prefer this method when I am cooking multiple things on the stove.
How long do you steam green beans in the Instant Pot?
It’s 0 minutes on the pressure cook setting! So zero minutes doesn’t mean NO time because it takes time for the pressure cooker to come to pressure and do a quick release.
How do I flavor green beans?
I prefer something simple, like drizzling it with olive oil and salt. But you can add whatever you want, including tossing them into a pan with garlic or bacon.
How much water do I add to pressure cook green beans?
If you’re cooking green beans for the first time in the Instant Pot, do a test to see if you like 1/2 cup or 1 cup of water. 1/2 cup will cook it less while 1 cup of water will cook it more.
What do I need to know when cooking green beans in the Instant Pot?
Whatever you do, don’t walk away! Stand by in the kitchen to wait for the Instant Pot to finish cooking, then do an immediate quick release. Otherwise, the green beans WILL overcook even you let it do a natural release, even for a minute of two!
What if my green beans overcook?
What if my green beans overcooked even though I followed the directions exactly? Sometimes this happens, if your green beans are old or near the expiration date.
Overcooked and old green beans turn out brown! This has happened to me on more than one occasion. Now, I try to cook the green beans within a few days of buying them.
Also, you can try cooking with less water. When you add 1/2 cup of water instead of a full one cup, it will cook the green beans less.
